Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
Pelvic reconstructive surgery/urogynecology
One of the most significant recent events is the recognition of pelvic reconstructive surgery/urogynecology as an important subspecialty. This surgery repairs weakened layers of the pelvic floor using absorbable stitches or, if required, a reinforcement material such as mesh to strengthen the pelvic floor. Our experienced surgeons use advanced minimally invasive technology and techniques to ensure our patients recover quickly with minimized pain.
Pelvic Reconstruction Surgery may be recommended for the following conditions:
- Urinary incontinence
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Post-hysterectomy prolapse
- Bowel problems
- Overactive bladder syndrome
If you come to our Women's health clinic with a pelvic floor disorder you will receive comprehensive and compassionate care tailored to your needs. We offer urodynamic studies for the diagnosis and management of urinary incontinence and overactive bladder. These studies are performed discretely and privately by certified RNs and are professionally interpreted by Board Certified Urogynecologists. Our program allows our physicians, in conjunction with Urogynecologists, to readily formulate and advise of the correct medical or surgical intervention for your specific condition. The population of postmenopausal women is increasing, and our physicians at Alexandria Women's Center are on the cutting edge of surgical technology.
