Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Procedures
There are different types of Laparoscopic Hysterectomy procedures that your surgeon may recommend if you have a problem which has not responded to other treatments.
Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) is the detachment of the entire uterine cervix and body via the laparoscope.
Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH) is the detachment of the entire uterine cervix and body via the laparoscope and vagina.
Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LSH) is the detachment of the uterus from the cervix and surrounding tissue laparoscopically.
The field of robotic assisted surgery has developed rapidly, and its use for gynecologic conditions has grown exponentially. Today, robot technology is applied widely in gynecology for hysterectomy, sacrocolpopexy, myomectomy, adnexal surgery, and malignancy staging. Robotic technologies have made these surgeries safer and less invasive. Our state-of-the art robotic surgical system allows our surgeons to perform procedures more delicately than ever before and the high-definition camera allows the surgeon to precisely guide the surgical instruments. Due to the increased precision these tools allow, recovery after a robotically assisted surgery is frequently shorter and less painful than after an abdominal hysterectomy. Always staying in tune with the latest technology, Alexandria Women's Center is proud to perform robotic hysterectomies.
